The Engineering and Technology department of global brand Whirlpool Coorp came to Aab Web for a redesign of their internal website which focused on their internal marketing 'Planks of Technology Excellence'. What we delivered blew them away.
There were two main goals for this project. Firstly to design a site which promoted the idea of 'Technology Excellence' and secondly to develop the designs into a site that could be easily managed via the SilverStripe CMS by content authors with no technical experience.
Whirlpools idea of 'Technology Excellence' had four accociated 'Planks': Leadership, Productivity, Predictablity and Leverage. We took these ideas and developed a graphic for each as well as allowing the ideas themselves to influence the design of the site it self so that every page even when not directly reffering to 'Technology Excellence', did so through the quality of the design.
We then went on to develop a site which allows them to continually reinforce these ideas by easily customising each pages header to either present a 'plank' or some other information about the department such as information about a member of staff. The site also provided easy management of link lists, news articles and files, automatically detecting file types and assigning icons to the links.
" After exploring the website, I really like how it looks and functions. Aab Web have added features that I didn't even know were possible to do with SilverStripe. The Quick Links is very slick and the way the planks are created is very nice. The site will allow the content creators to easily change the message and keep the site looking fresh. The design work done on presenting 'Techonolgy Excellence' was also far in excess of our expectations and very well received. Overall we are very happy! "
